Painted Lady Coffee Sales to Benefit NOCC
Fieldhead’s Coffee Company and the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition have formed a partnership with the Painted Lady coffee blend. This partnership is in memory of Marilyn Brown, a dear friend of the owner of Fieldhead’s Coffee and the mother of Tim Brown (President, NOCC Central Minnesota Division). Marilyn lost her battle in March 2006 to ovarian cancer. Marilyn loved Fieldhead’s Coffee, so it seemed fitting to create a blend in her memory. This gesture of love has taken on a life of its own and will now help contribute to the awareness of this whispering disease. Marilyn loved butterflies and rainbows, hence the name of the coffee. Marilyn’s son, Tim, helped develop the coffee blend; daughter, Jane suggested the name; and husband, Pete requested the story be told. Peggy Ennenga, Roast master, wanted to create a coffee blend that captures the complexity and strength of a woman, and Painted Lady does just that. Fieldhead’s Coffee will donate $1.00 per pound of all wholesale and retail sales of Painted Lady to NOCC in memory of Marilyn Brown, to support NOCC’s ovarian cancer education awareness nationwide. Painted Lady can be purchased online at
www.fieldheadscoffee.com or by calling 888-In My Cup (466-9287).

Teal Ribbon Awareness Checks
Check Us Out is a small, woman owned business that began selling its checks at the March on Washington in April 1993. Drawing on the belief "Visibility Equals Evolution" Stephanie Costy, owner of Check Us Out, set out to promote education and awareness to the LGBT and AIDS community. She designed four checks that she produced herself after large printing companies refused her business. When two of Stephanie's close friends learned they had breast cancer, she created a Pink Ribbon check in support of women, men and their families in their fight against breast cancer. Stephanie received an outpouring of requests from women, inquiring about an Ovarian cancer check and created a Teal Ribbon check.
